it’s not ‘mission impossible’ – it’s ‘mission Him-possible’
But what is the church’s mission?
Not an easy question to answer, and if you use Google to ask that question you come up with many interesting ideas. But it all boils down to one thing – the ‘Great Commission’ –
“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
That’s our mission – given to us by Jesus Himself. It’s clear, concise, brief and clear. There’s no room for ambiguity. So, how do we – as a church – follow that instruction?
Sure Hope Church supports a number of missions, both at home and overseas. It’s a staggering statistic that says that only 2% of the people of Wales are born again! So we have a mission right here on our doorstep – to preach the Good News to the other 98%!
Some, however, are called to serve on missions overseas, and we at Sure Hope Church support a growing number of overseas, and a few of us have travelled overseas on mission trips in the past. It is hoped that we will be organising regular overseas mission trips in the future. Please contact us for further information.

They say that “charity begins at home.” But I would like to add to that: “Mission begins at home.” A team of people recently returned from Estonia, where they had been on mission with the youth to help a church in Narva, on the Russian border. It is the second time the youth have […]
We praise God for what He has planned for us to do, and the month of April again just brought to our attention the needs and great opportunities there are for us to bless others with what God has given us. I don’t want Sure Hope Church to ever become a damn that rejoices over […]
Last month’s headline was “Glory to God” or in Russian, “Slava Boga”…. This month it’s the same in Portuguese… “Gloria Deus!” What a wonderful privilege it was for Ivan and myself to go to Brazil last month. When Graham Jones asked me if I’d like to go with him… I knew that this was the right […]
In January 2015, 6 men from Sure Hope Church left on a mission to Estonia – to deliver much needed bedding and clothing, to help renovate a rehab centre, to help renovate the pastor’s house so that he can take in more people in need, and to minister to people in the local churches. […]
On 4th March 2015, Pastor Dave Hatch and Ivan Segovia-Lebuy will be leaving Sure Hope Church on a mission to Brazil. Please pray for them during the three weeks they will be away, ministering and teaching at a number of conferences. It’s going to be a hectic time, draining physically, mentally and spiritually. Please pray […]
So after all the bustling, hustling, and fussing—it’s all done! I cant quite believe it really. Where did the time go? I have a good idea where all the chocolates , mince pies and snacks went— and I will now have to give an account for that! But what happened to a year that came […]
It is heartening to learn that the local free paper – the North Wales Pioneer – has deemed that our Men’s Mercy Mission trip to Estonia is worthy of a mention. You can see the editorial on page 18 of the paper, which you can view online here. Whilst it might be easy to […]
Conwy Food Bank still need your help! As we approach the “silly season” or “the season to be merry” let’s take a moment to be sensible and sober. It is indeed a sobering fact not only that there is a desperate need for a food bank at all in today’s wealthy Western society, but that over […]
How do you show your faith? For some, it seems, it’s by turning up on a Sunday morning for worship – that’s all! But it is written that you should show your faith by your actions – your works, or your deeds – and that means more than turning up for worship on Sunday morning. […]
This coming Tuesday, 28th May 2014, is World Hunger Day! Hunger and poverty is as real today as it was in the day of Moses, when the Israelites relied on manna from heaven to keep them from starvation. Today, we are called to take action – what will you do? The challenge is to live for […]
As you may know, one of our congregation – Lynda – is planning a mission trip to South Africa, mentoring teens and young adults as they build a school in a poor part of that country. The mission trip is organised through Youth Missions Project – which: “seeks to empower individuals to make a lasting […]
As a church, we are becoming more and more involved in mission work – both overseas and in our own community. Flame International is one of the organisations we support, and many of you may remember hearing Val Bachelor speak at a Sunday service last year. Flame International is returning to Bukavu & Goma, DRC […]
