Lets learn the lesson that Paul is teaching the believers in Philippi.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4: 4 – 7
Here are some useful pointers for prayer:
1. Praise and thanksgiving. Praise and worship brings us into the presence of God. It reminds us of who He is and what He has done for us. God loves to hear the praises of His people. Try Psalm 149 for a starter.
2. Intercession. Intercession is when we pray for other people. Jesus is our intercessor who presents our requests to His Father (and our Father).
3. Supplication. Probably the praying we do the most. Asking for stuff! Not surprisingly it is the type of prayer we seem to need the least encouragement to do, and it is a prayer that all Christians should regularly engage in.
Three Weekly Prayer Meetings.
Every Monday morning we start the week with intercessory prayer at Sure Hope Church, with an early start at 7:30AM. It’s a fantastic start to the week. Please feel free to join us as and when you are able.
Every Wednesday we have a regular prayer meeting. This is an opportunity to pray together at 11am in the INTERCHANGE, or to pray where ever you find yourself – praying specifically for the work and ministry of Sure Hope Church in the community of Old Colwyn and the surrounding areas of North Wales.
Also, at the end of the working week – Friday evenings at 1900 – we have another prayer meeting, when we encourage as many people to get together to pray for those things that are important for us as a church.
This year, please pray for …
For this year: that God would use the new ministry teams of Sure Hope Church to impact lives and reach into the community with His love and grace.
For the new season in the life of Sure Hope Church, that everyone would grab hold of the vision of the church, and run with it:
TO DEVELOP A CONTEMPORARY CHRIST LIKE CULTURE
For all the children and youth that are being impacted by our after schools programmes, including ARK and SPARKS, and also the teens who meet on Saturday evenings.
Please also pray …
More children and youth are coming to us this year than last year. Thank God for this amazing fact and pray that they’ll be positively impacted by Him and the message of the gospel.
Thank God for the new Youth Ministry called on Saturday evenings. This is an opportunity for the Christian youth of the Church to learn more about their faith, develop and grow in their ministries and anointing, and enjoy the presence of God in Worship and Intercession.
Praise and Thank God for those who work tirelessly with the youth in our church.
Don’t forget to pray for the missions we support at Sure Hope, and the missions we have undertaken ourselves as a church:
- UCB: Christian media company that impacts the UK with the gospel.
- STAR OF HOPE: Bulgarian Christian organisation that cares for orphans.
- ELLEL MINISTRIES, Lancaster: The Christian Ministry Centre in the UK for Healing through Deliverance.
- ESTONIA Mission.
Also, if you’d like to send us any prayer requests, then please feel free to do so by using the contact email form on our contacts page, or leave a comment on this page. (Please note that comments may be visible for anyone to read, as most comments are made public on the website.)

This week, may you have a 7p week. Prayer Let’s start with prayer. Is it just me, or do you often feel that you don’t pray enough? Lord, forgive me for the times I have felt too tired, too busy, too hurt, too comfortable, or have just forgotten to pray. Your Word says: “be persistent […]
Walk in Love! It will spread like … I can’t actually believe that August has arrived! With all the preparations for the Mini-Conference and the visit of the Brazilian Pastors, the month of July has disappeared in front of my very eyes. But here we are in August, with the prospect of our first WILDFIRE […]
We are pleased to announce that, in conjunction with Prison Fellowship UK, we will have the Prayer Course running, starting on Monday evening, 14th July. When should I pray? All the time. When? ALL the time? You know, we often pray when things are not going so well, when we want something or need something, when we are struggling. Most people, even non-Christians, find the time to pray under such circumstances. It’s been said that there is no such thing […]
“God does not curse you; you curse you.” Barry Fields It’s a poorly understood subject, very seldom talked about, but you often pick up in conversations and sometimes in teachings and preachings, something about curses. Barry Fields, who spoke at Sure Hope Church this last Sunday, said, “God does not curse you; you curse you.” […]
Join us for four days of Prayer and Fasting, leading up to Easter next weekend. A room is set aside all week at Sure Hope Church for prayer, gathering at 9AM, 1PM and 4PM each day, Monday through to Thursday. (Please note that Tuesday’s 4PM meeting is at the later time of 7PM.) Join us, […]
On Sunday, we held a special “corporate prayer” meeting at Sure Hope Church. It was profoundly encouraging and deeply gratifying to see the leaders of Sure Hope joining together for such an important occasion. And that is testament to the importance given to corporate prayer – praying together, with one voice (or several voices, in […]
Around 10,000 people may have died in just one area of the Philippines hit by Typhoon Haiyan, according to officials. BBC News As you go about your business today, as you brave whatever little bit of rain or wind that you have to endure, to think about those affected by the recent typhoon that caused […]
Should we, as a church, have a culture of prayer? Lord, teach us to pray. Luke 11:1 The disciples realised that they needed to learn how to pray, so they asked Jesus to teach them – and that’s how The Lord’s Prayer, as we know it today, was first taught (Luke 11:2-4). Pray in the […]
Recently I came across this old prayer that was printed in 1904 from a magazine called “Old Time Religion.” The author is unknown. God thou art in great favour of revival. Thou art now stirring up the sainthood to pray for what you favour. Our every other need sinks into insignificance compared to the need […]
As we have a week of Prayer and Fasting at Sure Hope Church, we ask – What is Prayer? What is prayer? Prayer is, basically, a conversation with God. Simple, basic, easy – but not so simple, basic or easy to put into practice always! Often, we neglect prayer, even as Christians. We find it […]
Background Back in early September 2012, at the Powis Prayer Conference, Willie Soans from India brought a message that God is laying before us a small window of opportunity to pray for our nation of Wales. This rang true with many who were there or who subsequently heard about it. In the months that have […]
